Dear Parents/ Guardians, 2nd October 2019
Our current Board of Management ceases its duties on 31st November 2019. I would like to pay tribute to them all for the terrific way in which they oversaw the running of the school and support they gave to the pupils, parents and staff. We have indeed been very fortunate. Thanks indeed to John Donohoe, Sylvia Lawler, Fr. O’Byrne, Margaret Kenny, Barry Whelan, Majella Dunphy and Lena Moynihan for the sterling service they provided.
There will be a meeting of parents of children who are enrolled to select Parents to be nominees on the Board of Management. (The new Board of Management’s term will run from Dec 2019 to Nov 2023). This meeting will take place in the school hall at 19.30 on Tuesday October 15th 2019.
At the meeting nominations will be sought from parents for persons to stand for election as parent nominees on the Board of Management. There will be a ballot at the meeting to elect the nominees.
At the meeting nominations will be invited for both a mothers' panel and a fathers' panel. Parents may self-nominate and each nominee must be seconded by a person in attendance at the meeting.
If there is only one nominee for either panel, the nominee(s) shall be deemed to be elected.
If more than one nomination is received for either of the panels, a secret ballot shall be held at the meeting. Two tellers shall be appointed.
Each person voting shall have one, non-transferable vote for each panel.
The votes shall be counted in public.
The election shall be determined on a plurality of votes (i.e. the first past the post system).
In the event of a tied vote between nominees the election of the nominee(s) shall be determined by the drawing of lots. However, where the ballot has been conducted at a meeting and where agreed by the majority of voters present and voting therein, the election of the nominee(s) shall be determined by a further vote at that meeting. Such a vote shall be confined to the tied nominees.
The result of the ballot shall be notified to the parents and to the patron's representative.
The voting returns from the ballot may be retained for the purposes of co-option in order to fill vacancies occurring during the life of the Board where it is decided, having consulted the parents' association, not to have a by-election, or further by-election, as appropriate.

will take place at 8 p.m on Tuesday 15th October 2019.

This is also an opportunity for parents to join the Parents Association or become volunteers in supporting school events.
